Old Terminal of Davao Int'l Airport

This is the old terminal of Davao International Airport. This has served the city for decades and had transfered all of its operations to the much bigger terminal adjacent to it.

Today, the old terminal sits silently, waiting for its restoration as the building starts to show signs of decomposition.

  2. It should be preserved. This is a Lindy Locsin and Mindanaoan legacy. The Torogan-inspired roof has become also the inspiration of the modern revisionist design of the new airport at Buhangin. If not a Museum, they may convert it into a civil center or a commercial center with a museum without the structure being demolished--that way, it can generate more income for the city. Since it is way on the curbside, I don't think it would disrupt the operations of DVO, even if it expands (most likely they may pursue the expansion of DIA somewhere else).

If I were DVO City Council, I would like to declare this as a heritage site. It has social and cultural significance. Given that it was designed by non other than the late National Artist Lindy Locsin (same one who designed the Brutalist NAIA Terminal 1)

  3. Why don't they use this building as an international departure and arrival port? Since foreigners are the ones who will more appreciate its old structure and art. Plus I also notice that there are lots of passengers in domestic departure terminal nowadays and that they use also the international terminal as a waiting area. And soon, might be, it will envy those other cities for having two separate airports in Davao. Just saying.
